Renewing the Mind for Teaching and Learning is a study in the Principle Approach, a way of thinking that views all life and learning through a Biblical lens.
A Biblical philosophy of education begets a fresh approach to both curriculum and method. Start “renewing your mind for teaching and learning” with a group of like-minded leaders, educators and patriots. This study is the first step in the process of restoring true Biblical education, the source of liberty and Christian self-government.
- Teach using a time-tested method of successful education
- Master the joy and spirit of subject material—vocabulary, principles and leading ideas
- Establish the purpose of learning—overviews, timelines, maps, goals
- Construct a solid Biblical and academic curriculum
- Create an appealing learning environment providing the right tools
- Consistently uphold the standards of Christian scholarship and character
- Celebrate learning by incorporating music, art, drama, pageantry, performance and all the arts

Dr. Brenda MacMenamin has loved learning our Christian Heritage and character of our Founders through teaching and learning the Principle Approach with the Foundation for American Christian Education, since 1984. She has taught her own children, parents and students through co-ops and churches locally and in online study groups. In the summer of 2021, she was delighted to earn her FACE Principle Approach Master Teacher Certification. Now, she looks forward to introducing the Principle Approach through this Renewing the Mind study course.
Reviews:
“I recently attended the online teaching program called Renewing the Mind. It was taught by Dr. Brenda MacMenamin. I highly recommend this to all who want to grow in understanding of a Biblical worldview and a scripture-based philosophy of education. Brenda is uniquely gifted and trained in worldview studies. Her course truly makes Romans 12:2 ‘come alive.’”

The class and the material encourage me each week and help me want to become a master student myself. I only wish I had found this earlier in my homeschooling, even my public teaching experience sooner. Even so, I thank God for leading me to this class and the FACE group today. It has been an answer to my prayers. Learning at Dr. MacMenamin’s feet is a Blessing. ~ Julie Barnett
Thanks for providing this online “Renewing the Mind” training. I consider the timing providential for me. Even though I don’t yet fully know if I’m being called to teach actively, I’m feeling a desire to do so and may pursue teaching children if an opportunity is presented. I really appreciate the biblical foundation developed in this course, but if given the opportunity to name it, I would call it “The heart of a teacher”.
May God continue to bless your efforts for His glory. ~ Al Fredrickson
I learned a great deal about the Principle Approach. I found most inspiring the applied scripture and quotes from founding fathers. ~ Tim Benton
I also want to say that I really enjoyed learning from you and from everybody else and that I really appreciate all you have done to make things happen and for all your attention. ~Claudia
This class provided the pace and narrow focus on content, in gradual steps, with modeling, personal encouragement and time to read, think and produce along the way. It was encouraging for me to produce physical evidence of my learning! ~Cathy Heide
“If you are a new mom that has answered the call to homeschool your kiddos; then this is the class for you. To some capacity we all need to Renew Our Minds to teach God’s way and this class challenges and encourages you to do exactly that.” ~ Whitnee McClain
“I believe this class would be helpful in teaching believers how to learn, and clearly articulate God’s call and claim upon them the necessity of girding up their minds for action in the building of God’s Kingdom.” ~ Alfreida Moore
“Why take the class? It will absolutely challenge any ideas you have about what you think education means, what it really is to teach and learn. It will make you think. After all, we are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind.” ~Lenny Oltmanns
“Thank you so much for teaching the Renewing the Mind course. I benefitted from the class learning more about Principle Approach, being able to discuss the different parts and gleaning from the various applications for the methods of Principle Approach and for curriculum resources. I really appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to teach and impart into so many of us!
“Renewing the Mind course allows participates to dig deeper into the Principle Approach methods along with gaining real life application of the methods. It’s an opportunity to hear from others in various walks of education, share ideas and build each other up in the areas of education that are in each of our hearts.”
~ Rachel Diroll, Principle Approach Academy Administrator
~ Pace was calm, friendly, encouraging, enthusiastic and reasonable, with a week between classes to think—research, reason, and relate and record
~ Interaction of a small group with a common heart over time—the teacher and students were free, natural, thoughtful, honest and relaxed
~ Sample work that was provided as models; Brenda and students shared their work as templates and examples to inspire, clarify and direct others
~ Reminders that this is our first time through, so do the other assignment items in future study of the same material—just relax, focus and get started with a small portion
~ Brenda shared her observation of 40-years of experience and what she remembers about how she felt and thought at our stage. We need to think decades, not weeks, for our growth in learning and implementing the Principle Approach. That helped those overwhelmed by the transformation of thinking in which we are engaged to step out and try it, without having to feel perfect even though we strive for excellence, and have the time to do so.
~Brenda’s manner and style—relaxed, joyful giggle and love for the subject, method of learning and her students—helped calm minds from being overwhelmed by the great urgent need in our culture and the size of our task to learn, comprehend and apply— enabling us to focus on just taking the next step. ~ Cathy Heide
~ What a great teacher you are to elicit such heart-felt and genuine evaluations from such a diverse group – Holy Spirit unity and purpose! I loved hearing each one and seeing you interact. Thank you for sharing and for being the learner you are that makes you such a great teacher. ~ Carole Adams, President FACE
